This construction may not work for everything, but it works for sliding. The woven monofilament thermoplastic laminates provide rigidity and crazy strength to the 5 ply maple core. This composite sandwich construction is light, and has a springy torsional flex pattern that makes technical sliding at high speeds more predictable, and forgiving. The constant load shifts that occur across the deck in spins, and stunts can also translate to uneven weight distribution between the wheels. The torsional flex helps keep all 4 wheels down even with tighter trucks. In a 25mph spin, weight distribution is the difference between sliding out, and sliding through.
